A new feature will be appearing in RWDecal in the near future. You will be able to mark out a path in Google Earth and then save this as a KML file. RWDecal will then use the KML file to automatically mark out all the areas that need to be converted to decals.
This should save time and also standardise the areas that users selected to be converted to decals
This will be a very good feature, but will it be able to process multiple paths in the route folder, eg for diverging routes from a junction?

Hi Longbow. It is very early code at the moment but yes I intend to make it so you can save multiple paths as a KML file and then RWDecal will automatically mark out all the areas in Google Earth you need.
ReplyDeleteThe main limitation at the moment is that points on the path must be reasonably close together.
eg. If you choose a area size of 1km squared then you MUST have a point on your path at least every kilometer or RWDecal will fail to process the complete path. It does highlight the area that has points too far apart so you can easily add an extra one to the path.
From my experiments this is a rare problem that is mainly encountered (if at all) on long straights.
